Question: I am trying to decide between upholstering my headboard with a neutral or a more colorful fabric. But, if I go colorful, the bedding gets tricky—do you use a custom fabric to make your bedding? How do you make it all work together?
Phoebe's Answer: When going bold on the headboard, we tend to keep the bedding very, very simple—in fact, almost always white or ivory. This does not include pillows or throws, but the actual bedding itself tends to stay simple so as not to compete with the fabric of the headboard. Keep in mind we typically cover the platform or bedskirt in the same fabric as the headboard, so it really turns out to be a lot of color or pattern.
