This foyer is a pass-through space that opens directly onto the living room with a stairway on the left. On the right wall we placed an interesting, heavily-carved Burmese console, a dark octagonal mirror, and an Italian grotto chair. The dark colors really work with the bright colors in the adjoining rooms (which you will see in coming weeks).
In the stair hall, we hung the client's collection of Christmas cards. We reprinted them in black and white and framed them in black frames, so they make both a graphic statement and also tell a fun story. Take a look:
