This week, we are featuring a client home from Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Phoebe decorated seven rooms in this house, so we will share them with you over the next few weeks. Let's start in one of our favorite rooms: the living room.
This client is married with three children and a dog, so the house needed to be welcoming to everyone who lived there. The client is also passionate about art and antiques and is an avid collector of both, so incorporating these treasures from her travels was high priority.
In the living room, much of what you see is new. The chairs were recovered and the secretary, art and armoire belonged to the client, but the remainder of the room - the furniture, accessories, area rug, curtains - are all new. The walls were painted (Winter Wheat by Benjamin Moore). Some of the art was re-framed to coordinate better with the space and of course the room arrangement changed significantly.
The result is a living room where the family can congregate and relax but also entertain guests since it has ample seating. Soft colors and personal pieces round out this space, giving the center of this house a comfortable, soothing feeling.
